On Wednesday, Aug. 9, Nassau County Police announced that an inquiry into a fatal overdose led to the arrest of the following:
- Alia Salway, age 23, of Freeport;
- Andy T. Salazar, age 23, of Freeport; and
- Estiven Membreno, age 18, of Roosevelt.
The three had been the target of the probe in Baldwin on Wednesday, July 19, which stemmed after a Nassau County resident’s overdose death.
During the investigation, authorities found a staggering amount of cash —a total of $14,278 — and substances that are believed to be:
- 262 assorted oxycodone pills
- 88 grams of mushrooms
- 29 LSD tabs
- 4.8 grams of cocaine
- 20 acetaminophen and oxycodone pills
- 54 alprazolam pills (commonly known as Xanax)
- 8 fluid ounces of promethazine with codeine (ingredients seen in cough syrup)
- 40 THC edibles
- 91 liquid THC cartridges
- Two bottles of promethazine hydrochloride
All three were placed under arrest without incident and each faces nearly a dozen counts of possession of a controlled substance, first- through fifth-degree.
They were arraigned on Tuesday, Aug. 8.
Salazar and Salway are due back in court on Thursday, Aug. 10, while Membreno will appear again on Friday, Sept. 8.
